The IMER offers a team of specialists in Urology for the study and comprehensive treatment of specific urological problems in men and women, thanks to its two specific Uro-Andrology and Uro-Ginecology.

Uro-Andrology

This clinic treats genital and sexual problems in the male:

Erectile dysfunction (impotency):
With exhaustive study: Penial Doppler ultrasound (study of the vascularization of the penis), study of the nocturnal penial tumescence (for the differential diagnosis of psychological or organic impotency), hormone assays.

Therapeutic alternatives: From medication via the oral route and intracavernous injection to surgery (penial prosthesis), and the use of vacuum devices and specialized psychotherapeutic care.

Ejaculatory dysfunction (premature ejaculation): Medical and behavioral therapy.

Penial disorders: Genital surgery: Phimosis, short frenulum, hydrocele, varicocele, vasectomy.

In the same way as in women – though in a more insidious way – adult males can suffer masculine hormone deficiencies: a process known as andropause. For this reason, after a certain age, monitorization of the adult male is advised, with hormone and prostate gland studies.

Uro-gynecology

The creation of this unit allows us to treat specifically female urological problems:

Urinary infection: repetitive cystitis, urethral syndrome.

Urinary incontinence: exploratory diagnosis.

Urodynamic alterations: adequate and personalized treatments for each individual case. Where required, we offer the surgical techniques yielding the best results with minimum invasiveness, such as vaginal approach tension-free vaginal tape (TVT) and laparoscopic surgery.
Our clinic is prepared for the comprehensive management of pathologies associated to stress incontinence: uterine prolapse, cystocele, rectocele, through intervention of our team of urologists and gynecologists.
In very selected cases it may prove necessary to apply modern and sophisticated electrical stimulation techniques involving neuromodulation of the nerves that innervate the bladder and pelvic floor.
In addition, our Uro-Andrology and Uro-Gynecology clinics can take thorough care of other urological problems, offering all the diagnostic modalities of the specialty: conventional and Doppler urological ultrasound, flowmetry, urodynamics, cystoscopy, and blood tests (blood, urine and semen).
As a consequence of spinal cord impairment and nerve conduction impairment, paraplegic patients may suffer sexual, reproductive and micturition dysfunctions. IMER is able to offer comprehensive care of the problems of paraplegic patients in these three dimensions, thanks to the application of semen retrieval techniques, the treatment of erectile dysfunction and the management of micturition disorders.

Female and couple sexual dysfunction (Sexology):
Comprehensive care is provided by a team of gynecologists, urologists and psychologists, to address sexual dysfunction both in males (erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation) and in women (anorgasmia, dyspareunia (pain during intercourse), vaginism, inhibited or hypoactive sexual desire) – adopting a multidiscipline approach and offering both medical and psychological treatment solutions adapted to each patient or couple, following the correct and personalized evaluation of each case.
