The R.O.P.A. method (Reception of oocytes from partner) is a treatment that allows to "share the maternity" to homosexual couples composed of two women. One of the two women donates her own oocytes to her couple, who will carry the pregnancy.
The donor woman undergoes a drug treatment for ovarian stimulation in order to be prepared to donate oocytes. The retrieved oocytes will be fertilized in the laboratory by the technique of in vitro fertilization, using a donor sperm sample from IMER. The good embryos obtained by the fertilization, will be transferred to the uterus of the recipient woman for the gestation.
In most cases exceeding embryos are obtained, which will be criopreserved for future pregnancies.
